Mugshots have always been iconic of wild America. From the first mugshots of outlaws (which were more like Wanted posters) to the smooth criminal gangsters of the early 20th century to the candid shots of the celebrities of today, mugshots have always been popular and have the ability to capture the moment like no other photograph. A picture with a thousand words, but with one thing certain, you have been nabbed by the police. However, innocent until proven guilty.

Classic Nolte Mugshot

Not too long ago I was commissioned by a young women to paint a portrait of her boyfriend’s mugshot. She later told me that it was quite a big hit with their family Christmas and that they proudly hang it in their home. Since then I have done a few more custom mugshots and all my customers have all been pretty stoked.
